About Mainstream Renewable Power

Mainstream Renewable Power was established by Dr Eddie O’Connor (former CEO and founder of Airtricity) in February 2008 to develop, build and operate renewable energy plant in collaboration with strategic partners. It has grown to become a global company with over 100 employees across eight countries.

In Europe, Mainstream is focused on developing over 5.5GW of offshore wind including the Neart na Gaoithe project in Scotland and the Horizont projects in German waters. In January 2010, the SMart Wind consortium led by Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures (SPV) together with Hochtief was awarded a contract to develop 4GW of wind farms off the UK coast by 2020 as part of The Crown Estate’s Round 3 offshore wind farm programme.

The Company’s vision for a pan-European offshore supergrid is central to its offshore strategy.

Mainstream is also developing over 2GW of onshore wind across North America (US, Canada), South America (Chile, Brazil) and South Africa and is also examining opportunities to develop Solar PV projects in selected markets.

Mainstream’s vision is of a future where economies can thrive, free from the restrictions of fossil fuels and it believes it has the passion, the expertise and the resources to help make that vision a reality.

Mainstream’s headquarters is in Dublin, its offshore centre of excellence is located in London. The German offshore team is based in Berlin.
